Zulauf, Inc. was formed in 1965 by Dr. James M. Reynolds and Glen Zulauf to offer educational tools for orthodontic patients. During the Korean War, Dr. Reynolds, a Navy dentist, was assigned to an Air Force base in Amarillo. When the medical Colonel in charge of the base requested that Dr. Reynolds implement a dental hygiene program, he joined forces with an Air Force sergeant, Glen Zulauf, a cartoonist. Together they started the base hygiene program, supported with illustrated booklets of instructions in dental hygiene. The program earned the Air Force's Outstanding Award for Education.
In 1964, Mr. Zulauf brought his children to Dr. Reynolds for treatment and asked for materials regarding his children's care and what they could expect related to the orthodontic experience. At this time, such materials did not really exist. That is when the two established Zulauf, Inc., a company that produces and publishes educational literature for patients regarding their care. The famous series, "It's Up to You", has been published for more than 35 years and other materials regarding orthodontic care have been developed. Today, Zulauf is a worldwide publisher and distributor of orthodontic educational information as well as wax packets and retainer cases. |
