This new system provides a non-extraction method for starting complex ClassII cases and moving them into a simple Class One occlusal platform.

The main purpose of the Carrière Distalizer is to provide a rotation movement of the maxillary first molars around their palatal root and at the same time receive a distalization impulse resulting in bodily distal movement with no competing forces to slow down desired results.

The Carrière Distalizer is a direct bond appliance that attaches only to the canine and first permanent molar. The appliance provides a simple procedure to treat Class II cases to a Class One Platform as a first step to be accomplished at the beginning of the treatment. The ClassOne Platform is of strategic importance in simplifying the orthodontic treatment and is the reference position to be achieved as the first priority at the first stage of a treatment. From this point on, every malocclusion is much easier to treat and can be finished with any orthodontic technique preferred. Since there are no competing forces in the mouth with this appliance, average Class II correction can be achieved in only 4 months.

Patient acceptance and cooperation has been a rewarding experience. Comfort of the appliance and the simplicity of design make compliance virtually a non-issue. Furthermore, it is used in the first 3 to 6 months of treatment when compliance is best. Another benefit for the patient is the upper incisors are left without any appliance in the maxilla and an invisible lower lingual arch or Essix is placed in the mandible for anchorage, making the acceptance of the appliance very good.
